About UsIf you're a UW-Madison student, faculty, or staff, you can join the team! The club has always been a place where active members of the university are able to train, workout, and socialize together. Since the formation of the club, we have grown to over 100 members ranging from nationally ranked triathletes to first time racers.
We race as a part of the Midwest Collegiate Triathlon Conference (MWCTC), a USA Triathlon governed conference for the sport of triathlon at the collegiate level. While we have the option to race year round, our “season” is during the summer, where we race all around the midwest. The team also attends the National Collegiate Triathlon Championships every year, which you can qualify for at any race during the year. It usually ends up being a cheap, fantastic vacation to a warm place in April! If you’re interested in how we get in racing shape, we hold practice 6 days a week! They are all optional so you can go to as few or as many as you would like. Our weekly practice schedule consists of 2 swims, 2 runs, 1 bike, and a brick workout (bike/run). We allow members to self-seed themselves into one of our three levels of workouts we give throughout the year, formulated by Coach Bill Martin. Coach Bill is the co-owner of SBR Endurance Performance, a coaching facility in Verona, WI (a suburb of Madison). A professional triathlon coach and former professional triathlete himself, he designs the team’s workouts which everyone has access to through the TrainingPeaks website and app. More information can be found about him at his website here. We also make working out fun through many socials! We volunteer at races all over Wisconsin, go for Mickie's runs, hang out at the terrace, hold formals, and take training trips! Every year we go someplace warm during the last week of winter break for a week of socializing and training. It will most likely be the cheapest (and yet most fun) vacation you’ll ever take! The Wisconsin Triathlon Club is designed to be accommodating for all students who are interested in joining, no matter your background or experience! Funded in part by the Associated Students of Madison. ASM does not necessarily endorse the beliefs or actions of this organization. |
